ABOUT THE RETREATS

faqs & details

Our retreats are designed to renew your body and spirit.

Most people are too busy to go on a yearlong journey of self- discovery as Elizabeth Gilbert wrote about in her now famous book Eat, Pray, Love. And yet a well-orchestrated yoga retreat is a vacation-length sample of self-discovery; giving women and men the opportunity to renew their mind and body experience. In addition, Travel Well Yoga retreats designs their retreats around experincing the unique culture and originality of each location we visit with added emphasis on experineces that cater to the wellness aficianado. For example, we look for amazing foods that the locals cherish and visit sacred places to see the best of our beautiful world. Paired with a chance to renew your practice, both yogis and those new to yoga enjoy the benefits of these retreats.

Although both yoga and meditation will be a part of the curriculum, you don’t need to have experience with either to participate. There will be options for both the beginner and those who are more experienced. Experienced teachers and guides will gently lead you throughout your stay.

We look forward to answering any questions about planning and packing to help you prepare your trip. Upon receipt of deposit, you will receive a packing list and soon thereafter a detailed agenda. We will update you via email as to “what to prepare for” prior to your arrival so we can take weather into account. All of your check in and check out details will be shared in depth on your specific retreat agenda.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if your retreat is right for me?

Our retreats are small groups often composed of people looking for an opportunity to connect with other like-minded individuals.  There is also time to get away and each retreat offers both shared and private accommodation options.  There is often a schedule as we are an active retreat designed to experience the surroundings but it offers opportunities to wander and truly immerse yourself as well. We are not a coach bus tour company and prefer very authentic experiences that may take you off the beaten path to see the best of the destinations we travel to. Each retreat page highlights some of our favorite programming to determine if the retreat is right for you.

Can I bring my daughter on a retreat?

We love that you are asking.  Yes!  There isnt actually an age requirement but the retreats are wonderful for the teen age range and up.  It wouldn’t be as enjoyable for younger children and parents would lose some of the benefits of re-discovering yourself if it was necessary to care for younger children. Trust us that your time spent away from your young ones will be in an effort to be the best you can be when your return for them.

Are flights or ferries included in the retreat price?

The retreat price does not include flights, ferrys, or other travel expenses unless otherwise specified.  We will assist in the process if you wish but the travel arrangements are up to you.

Are your retreats for men and women?

Yes! The one exception is our yoga retreat on Madeline Island which is for women only.

How physically active are your retreats?

Our retreats are very active. There is yoga class every morning to begin the day.  You do not have to attend any or all of the classes but we base our retreats on the concept that yoga makes you feel better and therefore enjoy the other components of your vacation. Outside of that we encompass the best of the place we are traveling to in our programming. In most locations that means a lot of walking and exploring. We assist with transfers to and from the airport to our villas or accommodation destination but at times you will also need to carry and manage your own luggage.

What’s included with my retreat?

Each retreat page lists specifically what is included.

Can I get special meals for my dietary restrictions?

Almost always. We love to accommodate as we understand that wellness means fresh, local, organic whenever possible and allergy free.  We will ask you for your specific requirements and always work with the restaurnats to accommodate your needs. They may be the need to be flexible once in a while but we manage allergies and concerns with care.

What will the meals be like on my tour?

We find the best food on these retreats. We strive to eat like a local and experince the amazing opportunities for fresh and local. On Madeline Island you will eat fresh salads, fresh caught fish, veggies and wild rice specialties. In Croatia, fresh seafood and Dalmatia inspired meals are on the menu and in Tuscany we make our own pasta and visit wineries with cheese and olive oil tastings. Alcohol is optional and available at meals group meals, at your own expense.
